Statement of Purpose :-

The Statement of purpose is a short essay that is submitted by the university applicant and this happens to be one of the most important element of your application. The statement would comprise what you currently do, what you intend to do, and how that would benefit you, why you feel that the course is suitable to your requirements and how you intend to apply the knowledge and skills that you would gain from the programme. It conveys to the assessor information on why they should consider offering you a place on the programme.

This document is usually a page long,  the specifications are provided by the university. How you structure this, and how carefully you follow the guidelines  on word count, content, spacing, is significant because that would go to show your attention to towards instructions.

The opening paragraphs may comprise the course that you are interested in, the intake you are aiming for and what studies or work you are currently undertaking. A snapshot of your educational background,  any achievements that help you stand out, and recognitions that you have received.

Further, it would be of interest to know what inspires you to pursue the particular programme you are applying for, and what exposure if any, you have had to that sector. The inspiration factors and influential experience should be relevant to your programme. The goals you describe in your statement of purpose, must be genuinely yours,  these would contribute to the essay being unique.

Explain why you are keen to study in the UK or (whichever country) you may be applying to. Give reasons why you have selected the specific course, whether you intend to gain some work experience before returning to your home country or you wish to settle and work in the UK to contribute to the growth of the profession and UK economy.

An important advice - please try to steer clear of plagiarism, this is a serious academic offence. Do not have someone else write your statement of purpose, do not copy from online templates as doing this would seriously damage your chances of getting admission and you lose out on the chance to make a good impression with your writing skills. Also, do not forget to thank the assessors for taking the time to review your application, your polite gestures bring in warmth and tell a lot about your personality.

The assessor is seeking to establish all the reasons why you would be a suitable candidate for the programme, and your statement of purpose is your chance to get across that message in the most effective, succinct, realistic and convincing way.
